Newest Inspiration?? Chick-fil-a COWS!!!

So...I've spent this summer reading and writing, reading about writing, writing about reading, writing about writing, well, you get the picture :)  I've been trying to "live like a writer," and writing has rarely left my mind this summer.

My husband and I were driving down the highway in Houston the other day.  I happened to look up and spot one of those adorable Chick-fil-a billboards.  If you live in a part of the country where there are no Chick-fil-a restaurants, you really must try it when you are traveling - YUM.  Anyway, those silly cows say the cutest things, but they just CANNOT SPELL!!  I have decided to use their messages during one of the beginning "editing" lessons this year.  The students will LOVE it.  My message will be:  "It's ok if COWS spell incorrectly, but we, as a "higher life form" have to be able to spell better than cows!" =)  lol  I believe this will be highly motivating and a fun way to make a point that spelling incorrectly makes you look maybe not as smart as you want to look.  We all need to do our personal best on each assignment.

Here are a few of the many images I plan to use:

There are many more, but you get the idea.
Just a shout out to Chick-fil-a:  We Love You in our home!  This is a Christian company with fabulous food and exceptional service!  I could not be happier for their success!

  1. Those ads are SO catchy; what a creative way to use them! I got to hear Dan Cathy, the restaurant's founder, speak at a Character Education conference in San Francisco last October. He's a man of great character. I noticed this week that the kids' meals have Wind in the Willows story books with reflection questions in the back. My all-time favorite kids' meal surprise was in 2001 when they gave step-by-step instructions on "how to write a thank-you note. Such an important lesson for kids and kind of like a lost art these days.
